Full and smooth without being overpowering or too bitter.
  • @dockruzer2017-07-22
    decent
  • Didn't burn evenly. Was tough to draw much smoke from until it was nearly gone. Flavor was ok but nothing special.

Mild/Medium full smoke production. Nice, cool smoke. Not a whole lot of flavor. Slight, dark sweetness, but not much else. Would smoke again because it's an easy going smoke.

Age Rest: 61 Days in the winedaor, the cello had a slight yellowish colour and the inside of the foot band had some yellowing as well, clearly aged before purchased. Pre-light: Really good construction, the smaller lighter line that spirals through the stick really catches the eye against the richer dark brown. The bands look great, the foot band adds a unique touch. The aromas are wonderful, lots of sweet aromas, nuttiness, earthy and woodsy. A couple of veins run through the wrapper and the seams are smooth and tight. A large double cap finishes off the cigar. A firm pack. The Toast: Trying a different longer technique, the foot was nicely lit and smokey. Never letting the flame touch the cigar but taking much longer to ensure the whole foot was up to temperature. The Draw: The draw feels a little snug but that might be due to the ring gauge as it generates a decent amount of smoke. Halfway into the first the draw opens up, the occasional double puff but it's not needed, more of a personal choice. The Burn: A decent burn line, getting a little wavy near the end of the first. The cigar needed a touch up to keep going near the transition from first to second third. A second touch up was needed in the middle of the second third. Lots of touch ups needed in the final third. The First Third: Starts off with earthy notes, about half an inch in a slight sweetness appears. Very smooth right from the start. The finish is a little short at this point. Starting to pick up a meaty note and the sweetness is at the start of wood note. Almost an inch in and a very faint dark chocolate makes its first appearance. As the first closes to an end the faint dark chocolate hasn't really gained, actually fading away. The Second Third: More of the same, meaty notes, chewy smoke, woods and the very occasional sweet note. The finish does feel longer than at the start. The Final Third: A rich meaty flavour is very dominant. The finish is a smokey wood. Overall: The lack of chocolate flavour was a little disappointing but the cigar had a unique flavour with the wood and meaty tones. A long smoke as the cigar burns slow. Smoke time is 2.5 hours. Would like to really try one with 6-8 months of rest.

Pre-light: The aroma is very pleasing, hints of sweet vanilla, nuts and a slight hint of caramel. The wrapper was oily and smooth. The Light: Toasting the cigar was easy, the foot lit fairly easy and quickly. The Draw: The draw easy from the start to the finish, although it did need a touch up/relight just before the start of the final third. The First third: The flavours were plentiful but not overpowering, mixed nuts and every so often vanilla and caramel with subtle hint of sweetness. The smoke is chewy and thick. The burn was fairly good. The Second third: The flavours remained the same with the smoke being smoother but still chewy and thick. The draw remained easy. The Final third: The flavours again remain the same and consistent but a little less sweet as the vanilla becomes more faint. The draw remained easy. The cigar needed to be relit to start the final third which did make the cigar run a little hot but still pleasing. The smoke was still plentiful and chewy. Overall: The cigar didn't disappoint, although it may have been a tad too young causing the the cigar to go out and maybe might have caused the cigar to less sweet than I had hoped for based on other reviews but still a very enjoyable experience. This time I give the cigar 3.5 but with a little more age it could be a 4.0 or higher.
