Antaño Dark Corojo (Doble Fuerte)

3.6★★★★★3.6· 19 ratingsFull

Joya de Nicaragua Antaño blend, the new Dark Corojo puts a unique and welcomed spin on Nicaragua's Classic handmade. Created with 3-year aged Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos and a special Corojo leaf wrapper that's dark, oily and loaded with flavor. Naturally robust but impressively smooth, JdN Dark Corojo exudes a rich series of earth, cedar, pepper, cocoa and a slightly sweet finish. Complete, refined and worthy of the Joya de Nicaragua name.

Tight seems and minimal veins in wrapper. Wrapper is soft and oily/moist. Light earth taste with a creamy accent. Slight black coffee in the aftertaste. Very even burn. Constantly had to touch up. Light smoke, not thick at all. Smooth and light.

Had this cigar with coffee on the deck. Excellent smoke. Only con was a slightly tight draw but a bigger cut on the torpedo resolved that. Coffee made the earthy flavors stand out in this cigar.

Age/Rest: 108 Days Pre-light: A dark heavy stick, noticeable veins and tight seams. A large single cap. A medium bodied animal barn aroma. The Toast: A long toast due to windy conditions. The Draw: A good draw a touch on the tight side. The Burn: Inconsistent draw, usually tight. The First Third: A heavy smoke that leaves my mouth feeling dry, dominant aged tobacco with a hint of spice from the Corjo wrapper. The Second Third: Not much change in flavours a bold deep aged tobacco, still dry in the mouth. Middle of the cigar, a change. A pistachio like nut flavour and cream, still heavy smoke but takes 3-4 draws to dry out the mouth now. The Final Third: Not much change from the last update. Overall: This cigar seemed over packed causing draw issues but the flavours worked well on this cool day.
