How to request deletion
There are two ways. Either works, both reach the same person.
- In the app or web: sign in, go to settings, and tap "Request account closure". This opens a pre-filled email from the address tied to your account so we can confirm it's really you.
- By email: send a message to [email protected] from the address tied to your account. Subject: Delete my account and data. Include your username if you have it handy.
We do not require a reason. We will not try to talk you out of it.
What gets deleted
- Your email, username, and password hash.
- Your profile (display name, bio, country, avatar) and any photos you uploaded.
- Your private activity: humidor contents, smoke log, wishlist, follows, and notification preferences.
- Your ratings and written reviews.
- Your session cookies and any push notification tokens tied to your devices.
- Lounge check-ins and any draft / unpublished content you authored.
What stays
Cigars and lounges you contributed to the public catalogue stay so other users can keep finding them — your authorship is replaced with deleted user. If you want a contribution removed entirely (because it contains personal information, for example), say so in your request and we'll handle it case-by-case.
We may retain minimal records — for example, a hashed identifier and the deletion timestamp — for up to 90 days where required to handle abuse reports, legal requests, or to prevent immediate re-creation of an account that was banned for terms violations. These records contain no profile data and are not used for any other purpose.
How long it takes
We process deletion requests within seven days of receiving your email. You'll get a confirmation when the work is done. Backups roll off on a 30-day cycle, so any residual copies are gone within a month.
