Platinum

3.8★★★★★3.8· 20 ratingsMedium-Full

Rocky Patel Platinum is an amazing example of how a top-notch, super-premium cigar should look and taste. A dark, oily Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper surrounds a San Andres binder and Nicaraguan long-fillers. This is a true medium to full bodied smoke that delivers earthy tones, along with black pepper spice, and slight coffee flavors.

  • Good draw, even burn

Toothy. Oily. Great flavor. Each one continues to be as solid as the last.

Oily toothy wrapper. Could see the oil marks from its time in the humidor. Chocolate coffee on the cold draw. Similar flavors throughout. Very good smoke. Even burn, plenty of smoke, light pepper on retrohale. One of Rocky's better smokes for sure.

Very good. 162 days of rest. Needed zero maintenance. Even and consistent burn.

I thought it was a decent cigar, though there wasn't anything in particular that stood out about it.

Medium to full-bodied. Cold draw was very earthy, reminiscent of wet leaves and dirt. Once lit, the first 1/4 inch of burn was VERY strong, with a lot of pepper and tannin. After that, however, the cigar really opened up with flavors of unsweetened chocolate, leather, cedar. On retrohale there was also a hint of nutmeg and cardamom. All of this was balanced out by a little bit of tannin that cleared the palate between each puff.
